Installing RPMs

Hi Peeps,

After much messing I've finally settled on the KDE install of F3. I seem to have a problem with downloading and installing RPM's though: Before, when I clicked on a link, it would imediately set about installing itself. With this install, I get what appears to be a file player of sorts. I have checked the file associations and they seem to be fine.

If at all possible, I would like to return to the automatic installation of RPMs. Any ideas?

To download rpms, right click on the link and click "save link as". The problem your are experiencing usually occurs when you have installed helixplayer or realplayer on your system. A better way to install packages is to use apt or yum package managers instead of downloading individual rpms.

Haven't got the the bit of the manual dealing with yum. I think your right about Helix. For some reason I installed it, a bit pointless with no soundcard!

Anyway, I've tried to remove it with the add/remove applet. Apparently it can't be removed because it requires loads of additional files, most of them begining with arts... Is there another way of getting rid of Helix?
