Hi...if someone can help me because I am screwed without the computer now.

I installed Fedora 9 64 bit when it came out. Then I realized afterward that I had an SD card in during the install. This became apparent when I moved the computer and it wouldn't boot unless I had the SD connected to the computer.

I have my grub and menu.lst all on the boot partition on my hard drive. The drives using fdisk -l are:

/dev/sda1 - boot
/dev/sda2 - home (and root, all that)
/dev/sdb1 - my 1TB drive
/dev/sdc or c1 - was the SD card/card reader, but is gone now.

I accidently used that card and formatted it. So, it is gone, it won't work to boot the computer anymore. I get this:

"couldn't find device with uuid '(the uuid)'
volume group "VolGroup00" not found
switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory

I can't get it to boot at all. Can anyone at all help me?

It's possible your device naming has changed. You'll need to boot from a fedora 9 rescue cd in order to fix any of your problems.

Boot from a fedora 9 rescue cd. You'll need to verify /etc/fstab is registering the correct device names for each mount point.
You could use "vgdisplay -v" so it'll show what device name corresponds to each logical volume name.

Here's the structure
---Volume Group (ex: VolGroup00)
--Logical Volume (ex: /dev/VolGroup00/ROOT)
-Physical Volume (ex: /dev/sda1)

You're going to have to fix the Physical Volume associated with each Logical Volume. You'll do all this from a fedora 9 rescue environment which is achieved simply from booting from a fedora 9 rescue cd. Do not chroot as it explains you can do seeing as how your fedora 9 installation isn't running correctly. I haven't messed with lvm in a while but all your commands you'll need can be found by typing "lv" and hitting tab or hitting "vg" and hitting tab so it shows you your choices. Use "man" on each to understand how to use each. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Shafty. I managed to recover the partitions after going into a live boot. Unfortunately, I could not even get the rescue cds to work at all

I've learned my lesson. I reinstalled after recovering my data (a long process involving many vg commands thank you) so now I have a separate issue, which I'll make a new post for.
