I would like to know how I can remove a "LxQt Desktop" from my Fedora 27 Workstation?
Hey,
Recently I installed Fedora 27 Workstation on my "Dell Optiplex 780" I war given the option of installing additional desktops. Using the command in a terminal; "dnf groupinstall LxQt desktop" that desktop was installed. Using a variation of that command I also installed the Mate desktop and the Cinnamon desktop as well.
I find I can work with the Cinnamon and Mate desktops but not so much the "LxQt desktop"
Can someone tell me how to remove the "LxQt desktop" from my Fedora.
Just ask yum to remove it. However there is one caveat:
Most distros install a desktop as a metapackage, an empty package with a lot of dependencies. These include all the native applications. So when you remove the desktop, the apps disappear with it! The solution is to read the list of what's going to be removed and to jot down on paper those that you wish to keep. Reinstall them by hand afterwards.
