How do I update my repositories ?

I did an upgrade from Fedora 12 to Fedora 14 using a DVD.

My repositories all still point to Fedora 12 programs. What do I have to do to make them access Fedora 14 programs ?

Yum repo configs are installed via the fedora-release package, make sure that it it's update.

Yes, but you obviously can't get the 14 version if your system is still looking at the 12 repo, right? grab the file yourself, or force the release number "yum --releasever=14 update fedora-release" But to be in this state, are you *sure* you ran the upgrade?? Generally I'd advice a reinstallation every time, althought this laptop I'm now did upgrade from from 13 to 14. the Fedora Wiki also has any upgrade caveats and gotchas between versions, so check that out too.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried a "yum --releasever=14 update fedora-release" but it ends with ...

Transaction Check Error:
package fedora-release-14-1.noarch is already installed

So I thought, OK, I'll delete the package and install it again, but then yum warms me it wants to delete 299 other packages - about 1.1Gb of data, so I chickened out at that point.

Any other suggestions ?

wel you could force a removal without the deps... just grab the package adn install it with "rpm -Uvh --force http://hany.sk/mirror/fedora/releases/14/Everything/x86_64/os/Packages/fedora-release-14-1.noarch.rpm"

if you do a "rpm -q fedora-release" do you somehow have 2 installed?

It seems that the $releasevar value used in the repos will come from the version of the fedora-release package as installed, it. the Version field listed in "rpm -qi fedora-release"

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it does look like I have two versions of the package installed.

So I just need to get rid of the FC12 one and it'll all behave itself ?

Later ...

I did a " yum remove fedora-release-12-2" and Packagekit burst into life telling me I have over 112 updates to perform. They appear to be FC14 versions too.

Thank you for your help - it all seems to be OK now (he said touching wood and fingers crossed)
