Ok... so if Google have blocked you, why do you think anyone on LQ can do anything about this?
Because maybe someone here has figured out how / if it is possible to retain GMail and still use a dedicated client instead of that poxy webmail interface?

There's literally instructions from Google on how to set up many mail clients. Just searching for how to set up Gmail client should bring it up
And chances are, restarting your browser or cleaning the cache will do it.

I agree that it should, but in actual practice there are no working instructions to be found yet. GMail is closing the door on everything except web mail on 30 May. However, whether that is the OP's question is just speculation on my part.

Both Thunderbird and Outlook support the requested 2FA, which is what they're insisting on. Other mail clients will probably follow suit. There are ways to get around things, involving generating a Gmail passcode, for use with a specific application, but that may change as well.
Those are quite out of date, or more specifically are only valid until May 30th, 2022. After that, Google pulls the plug on programs which cannot provide an "app password". The one set of instructions for trying to do that did not in any way match what is visible in recent versions of (as one example) Thunderbird.

Sorry again, but no. The first link is from Google themselves, and is current. Those instructions specifically say that if your client doesn't support OAUTH, it's not going to work past the due-date. Following some of the links on that page leads you to:
How can I disable Google from controlling my gmail.com.
I have been on Google help sight but can't get any help on disabling Google.
I have the correct password for Google, but I can't get past the selection on Buses.
Please help !!!!

Contact support and probably they can help you. I have no any idea, what went wrong and how can it be fixed. You explained almost nothing (just it does not work). Without details hard to say anything.
On the other hand, google has the right to control Gmail.

I'm going to ask you to think about the question you asked: "How can I disable Google from controlling my gmail.com"; perhaps rephrasing it will help:
Code:
How can I get Google, who owns and provides Gmail, to stop doing things with what they own and I use for free?
And you're asking us on how to solve the CAPTCHA at this point...not a lot we can help you with there.
Either use the 2FA and something like Google Authenticator for the code, or solve the CAPTCHA.
