"Find Files" not working

Forgive me if this question has already been asked. When I use Find Files to search for a file, it seems to hang. I remember seeing a command that is used in terminal that was to be run for the first time before using kfind to search for files - does anyone know it?

A command to find files ( there may well be more ) is slocate. The command to update the database is updatedb. See the man pages for the details.
