Fedora error on install @ libgucharmap.so.3.0.2

Im getting an error during install of core 1.

error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/lib/libgucharmap.so.3.0.2;3fb57b2a: cpio: MD5 sum mismatch

error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/lib/libgucharmap.so.3.0.2;3fb58ea2: cpio: MD5 sum mismatch

(both of the above were different installs)

Ive been trying many different things over the past few days ( no dma, noprobe, pulling mem in and out, removing usb 2 card (why not) trying different drives, turning hpt 372 on and off). Install has always failed at this point with a couple of exceptions where it failed at the kernel.

Only one time I it got it to load by not installing gnome but when i did that it wouldnt allow me to add anyting from the add/remove applications.

Ive had no problems re-installing redhat 9 and during the past few days ive even installed gentoo, debian, tawie and freebsd. Just to make sure my machine isnt dying. All with no issues (for install).

If anyone has any comment or suggestions id love to hear them. Im gonna pull my hair out soon. Fedora seems really nice on my other machine but thats not my main comp and i really want to play!

Thank You

I forgot to post that ive used the same media on a different machine and the install went perfectly. Ive used multiple cdroms drives. Even took the cdrom out of the machine that worked and installed that and i got the same issue. I really think that ive got a processor error or there is a bug in fedora.

Ive made many sets of cd roms at all different burn speeds from 8x to 40x. Even tried different brands of cdr's

Sounds like it could be a hardware problem, then.

You could at least eliminate memory as a suspect by running the full memtest86 overnight.

Unplug everything except mobo, cpu, mem, vid card and floppy drive

Ive done that already and mem checks fine. Ill fill out a bugzilla report and see if the next distro will install. If not. Gentoo and FreeBSD seem like the way to go.
