Did you do this from anaconda or were you installing from a live CD? It is most definitely an option from anaconda, and as I recall, pretty clear (I managed to find it OK). It musthave been on the screen that asks you about installing bootloaders, but I cant recall exactly where
Solution was to boot another distro, and reinstalled grub with
grub-install /mnt /dev/sdb11 (where the F9 partition was mounted on /mnt)
This gave the same error because the device.map file in /boot/grub was wrong (sdb was hd1 but should have been hd0). Edited this, reinstalled grub and all went well
