Fedora 8 Booting Problems

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi All

I have got 3 hard disks (40,80 and 500 gb).I first installed Win XP on 500gb disk, and later i put Fedora 8 combined on 40 and 80gb disks.
When i start the comp, the Grub screen comes up with options of Fedora and Win Xp,but the Fedora does not load.

I get Error 15:File not Found error, and it hangs there. Before this message i have some more messages :

root(hd1,0)
Filesystem type is ext2fs,partition type 0x03
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.xxxx ro root=/dev/Volgroup00/LogVol00100 rhgb Quiet.

Can someone help me in this.

Thx

where did you install grub in the first partition OR in the first linux partitinn
root(hd1,0) says that fedora is looking in the very first partition ( windows mbr)and not in the first linux partition
and from fedora forum
"since i am a newbie ,how can i edit the grub.conf file, from rescue mode "
after you type in
chroot /mnt/sysimage
then
nano /boot/grub/grub.conf

I gave path for grub to be the one of 3rd Hard disk(500gb one),since Windows XP is also on it.that wld be the first partition i guess.
So in grub.conf should i change the path to something appropriate and what wld that be??

Thx

fdisk -l
this will give you the lay out of your drives
