Error when running "studio.sh" to install android studio

I tried to install android studio on my Fedora 25, but when I ran "studio.sh" I got the error message "Startup Error: Unable to detect graphics environment". Tried various solutions found online, which mainly had to do with changing from OpenJDK to Oracle's JDK. I also tried moving the folder of android studio to various locations but couldn't find a solution.
Does anyone know how to solve this?

I followed the instructions here, so basically untarred it in /usr/share/ and ran studio.sh from the bin folder.

OK, now I feel really stupid: I just didn't log out of root before running ./studio.sh...
All set!
