OK. Just finished setting up my FC1 system. Got the NVIDIA driver-module loaded and re-compiled the kernel for NVIDIA. But, I noticed that I have no sound. Now, the test sound (little guitar strums) plays just fine and the config is es1371, which should be right for my card, but, movies, CD, etc. are silent.
Distribution: Fedora/RHEL currently. Red Hat, Slackware, Debian, SuSe and Mandrake at other times

Rep:
Are you using gnome, kde or a custom setup?
Here's how you can test if it's a problem with your sound daemon: Find a .wav file on your system (locate .wav) and the...
for gnome:
esdplay /path/to/sound.wav
for kde:
artsplay /path/to/sound.wav
If that doesn't work, then your sound daemon (esd for gnome and artsd for kde) may not be working. See where this gets you and we can figure out where to go from there. I think I've had some problems with the driver for that particular card myself, but I've never had it just not make sound.
results from command:
# esdplay /home/foobar/test.wav
unsupported sound format: 4112
i can get the guitar strums to play as well, but i can't get anything else to make any noise (gaim, evolution, etc...) i can't get alsa to work either.... it's all screwy...
I had on-again, off-again es1371 sound problems in Gnome and KDE for a long time before I bit the bullet and switched to ALSA drivers. It wasn't that hard for me and resolved my sound issues once and for all.
