You may want to install and set up k3b, its a great burning tool that greatly resembles NERO (windows) and is very easy to use.

im not a fedora users, so you may want to look for instructions on installing k3b

K3B is good, but I find, can't do everything. Your better off using the command line for the best results.
Enter cdrecord -scanbus, and look at what it tells you. It will find your dvd recorder
Here is my read cd command line:
cdrdao read-cd --device /dev/hdd --read-raw --datafile fifa2004.bin -v 3 fifa2004.toc
And here is my write to cd line:
cdrdao write --device /dev/hdd -v 2 Ella2.toc
I don't have much experience with dvd recording, but I think cdrdao and cdrecord can handle dvds as well.

I've used K3B to my satisfaction with a DVD writer on my desktop and on the CD writer on my laptop. Still using the 2.6.7 kernel as 2.6.8 causes burner recognition problems. The problems may have been resolved but I'm still in 2.6.7............
