doom3 on fedora

Anyone played doom3 on fedora here?

Can anyone tell me why I get double the framerate with slackware on
kernel 2.4 than I do with fedora on it's standard kernel?

agpgart can not determine my agp arpeture in slack 2.4 [8x agp] however kernel 2.6 and above should be able to and I do not recieve error messages stating otherwise. However, slack on 2.4 outdoes fedora and mandrake as far as doom3 goes.

If your a linux gamer I need your ideas because I like fedora core 3 and I would like to use it more.

Thx in advance.

http://www.fileplanet.com/146367/140...-Binaries-v1.1

Above is the file planet link for the doom3 linux binaries.

I've played d3 on mandrake with the standard 2.6 kernel with same low fps.Seems only the older 2.4 kernel works well for me even though the agpgart seems to be pre 8x agp or something.Oh well, what the hell.

Yes,I have gotten games to run through wine but the results were sub-par performance such as only running in a window or shitty sound that stuttered or just did not work or mouse would not work.If there was copy protection on a game disk then of course...it would not work.

To sum it up my wine experiences led me to the conclusion that if the game does not have linux binaries then I use XP.I don't want to turn you off of wine as there are success stories they just are not my stories.

Wink

it's a way to flush XP down the toiled although it's 5 euro per month but I'm sure it's possible to use the free CVS or crack the other one - it's DirectX for Linux extension to wine
