Angry display problem

Ok, I have fedora core 1 installed on a HP laptop. I have the correct monitor and graphics card drivers installed. When I load gnome, the icons are big like I am running a low resalution, but I am running 1280x960 with millions of colors. When I load KDE, The icons are small and fine, just like I like them. Why are the icons so big in gnome, and why can't I make them smaller? Thanks for your help.

I can guarentee that in gnome you are running at the same resolution, because gnome and KDE are of course using the same X server. As for the icons, why would you want them smaller? Half the time I can't see them if they are too small. Helps relieve eye-strain too.
