Compiling 2.4.20 kernel on FC3

Hello!

For some reason i have to compile 2.4.20 kernel on my FC3. I installed gcc 3.2.2, compiled the kernel successfully, but i wasn't able to make initrd. The error is well-known:
all of your loopback devices are in use.

I have CONFIG_BLK_DEV_LOOP enabled in .config. I tried to find a solution for the problem so far and installed module-init-tools-3.0 (FC3 has ver. 3.1-pre15), like suggested here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...opback+devices
but, i still couldn't make initrd.

Any other ideas?

P.S.: I'm 100% sure i need initrd!
P.P.S.: And yes, i do have /dev/loop devices (/dev/loop0 - /dev/loop7). I was able to create initrd for 2.6.9 kernel without a problem!
