I have RH9 on my laptop and put Fedora 1 on an extra partition on my desktop. The only difference so far with Fedora is that it's actually shutting down my computer. Before no matter what distro I had on, I could only restart. If I shut down or logged off, the computer would hang and the only fix was to unplug it from the wall.

Cool Obtaining Fedora Core

There's a way to get Fedora Core 1, but it's $30 (US$) and it comes in a book called Linux for Dummies.

Fedora Core 1 is great. It has the spit and polish that lots of folks look for. And you can get your hands dirty if you want. I highly recommend getting apt and synaptic to make updating even easier than it already is.

I'm a linux newbie and I'm using Fedora Core 1
I really like it. I got the book Linux for dummies and could not use the DVD that come with it. So I downloaded it and burned it to CD's.
It has been working great for me.

I have a cable connection so it does not take me long to download and try differant Linux distributions.

I have tried a few different ones. I would say the next best thing to FC1 was Knoppix.
I could not seem to get my USB to work right on Knoppix.

Everything has worked great right from the start with FC1

------------------------------------------------

I don't know if it's right to offer this so if any mods think it's wronge please feel free to edit or delete my post.

I'm so happy with FC1 that I would like others to be able to try it.
If you are having trouble downloading it and would like I could send you a copy of it (3 cd's)
If you are interested you can email me at linux@wat.midco.net

I would ask for a few bucks to cover postage (not really sure how much yet, we can work something out) and the blank CD's that I would be using.

I would also like to keep shipping to USA address to keep it simple for me.

Anyway there is my offer, do with it what you will
