What does the error message show?

Run dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 in a console as root and try to reconfigure it.

Oh there is no error message it's really weird it boots up then when it is "supposed" to go into xwindows a black screen flashes a few times I think it is trying to load xwindows anway after the black screens flash it just goes back the the consle but there is no error message just the loginscreen

Man.. I'm thinking of giving up Ive tryed to get redhat, knoppix, debian, and slackware in
to no sucess owhh im getting discouraged.

But Ill go put that command in now and try to reconfigure it and get back to you with the results I am on my grandmothers computer
