What is the easiest way/software for setting up a partial Debian package server?

I'm doing some messing around with the internals of Debian, and I want to setup a package server. I think it will be faster and put less strain on the official mirrors. Also a fun learning experience.

I only need AMD64 and a few hundred packages. But I'm able to house more if it's easier to setup a full mirror than a partial mirror.

ftpsync seems kind of complicated, and not many tutorials.
aptly appears unmaintained.
reprepro looks like the best option, but tutorials are kind of old, maybe outdated.

What would you recommend?

This looks like a good starting point: https://wiki.debian.org/DebianRepository/Setup
