No hard disk drives could be found. Make sure thye are cabled correctlty(which they are) and are turned no before the system is started. You may have to change driver settings when you start the system with a command at the "boot:" prompt, or you may have to load a driver that is in a loadable module to solve this problem.
now the PC is a Poweredge 2500.. and i have no idea what the hell debian is talking about right here..
What kind of drive is it? If it's SATA, you might have to use linux26 at the boot prompt to use a 2.6.8 kernel as Sarge uses 2.4.XX as default. Or maybe try the Etch installer which should have 2.6.15.
There are several projects available to address that issue.. the problem is the driver for the controllers used in the Dell Servers not being part of the stock Debian kernel.
The debian-dell-2.4.31.iso should support the following Dell products: [PowerEdge] 2600
Several new updates to this ISO:
* Based on Linux 2.4.31 kernel
* SATA support with Jeff Garzik patches
* AIC7YXX driver support for much newer SCSI controllers.
* PERC4/Di controller which requires the latest megaraid2 driver
* aacraid, e1000, eepro100, tg3, aic79xx as well.
Is this ISO a full install or just some kind of boostrap thing? Do I boot with the normal debian 3.1 install CD then tell it to use the dell-2.4.31 iso CD for the kernel?
Looks like an installer to me. It probably does a netinstall and/or gives you only a base system. Then you have to apt-get your way to the rest of the programs. Not that I'm an expert, but I still think the regular sarge installer should work using linux26 at the boot prompt.

Nope linux26 will not work.. but you could compile your own kernel with the proper device support and setup a netinstall iso that will use that 2.6 kernel.. and let me know if you do cause I will want a copy I've been looking for a installer with a 2.6 kernel for the Dells
