Tails distro: Pidgin connection error

On my Tails distro, whenever I click on the Pidgin messenger, and go to connect to the Tails chat: C3ll3@irc.oftc.net account, I get 'SSL Handshake Failed' and it won't connect. I'm also connected to wifi on Tails.

Any help on how to connect to the account would be appreciated.

Not sure I can help but from what I have read so far, this seems to have been a common problem with Pidgin in the past. What version of the program are you using and can you supply the log of one of the failed sessions?
