Question on mounting of Andriod Phone in Linux

I have a default openSUSE (KDE) installation in one computer.

Plugging in a Andriod (tried with Asus and LG) phone,
- on the phone side, select USB connection as Media Sync (MTP)
- on the computer side, Dolphin (KDE) will shows that the phone is plugged in
will enable direct mounting and access of phone from the computer.

Linux is definitely able to do this autodetect / mounting.

However, in the few computers running Debian, all seems to not detect that the phones are plugged in.

Am I missing something?

How could I configure Debian such that it can autodetect / mount Andriod Phones?

If you are using kde, I believe you have to install the kio-mtp package as it is not installed by default.

@kilgoretrout

Installed kio-mtp and in KDE did detect the phone.
However, opening in Dolphin results in the error message "No storage found. maybe you need to unlock your devices."

Anyway, I am also running Debian in Fluxbox.
Any chance of sharing how to configure such that it can autodetect / mount Andriod Phones in Fluxbox?

Take a look at the Debian wiki on this subject:

https://wiki.debian.org/mtp

You might find something useful there. But note it specifically says:
Quote:
For the version of gvfs-backends in Debian Wheezy (7.0), it seems that not all devices are recognized or mountable. It should work from GVFS >= 1.15.3.
That's rather gnome specific but I have a hunch you may be running into similar problems in other desktop environments. In short, the older packages in Debian Wheezy may not be up to the task at hand.
