Power cut and internet

I live in Bangladesh where power cuts are common. When I boot after a power cut (while the system was running) I do not get internet connection. However, If I reboot after booting things become normal. Is there anyway I cant get my etch/sid to remember my internet settings after a power failure?

I don't know about remember, but you might be able to fix the problem without rebooting. Did you try running ifdown eth0 followed by ifup eth0, or /etc/init.d/networking restart? The first two just bring down and up the network interface. The last one actually restarts all networked services.

Something that might help with the power cuts would be to purchase an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS). They're a bit pricey (~$40 US for a decent one), but I've paid for mine in the time it took to recover my system after one particularly bad power failure.

Thanks for the help. I did what you said and did not only solved my problems, it also somehow saved the settings. Now I get ineternet straight after a power cut.

As for the UPS they are expensive here if you want a decent one. If I want an hours backup that would probably cost me over $200 here (almost what I earn in a month). So, as for the time being I'll have to do without an UPS.
