PCMCIA card works but user intervention needed

I have a MD010C Unex PCMCIA graphics card. It worked fine with Knoppix but with Debian Sarge I have to take it out and plug it in again before it is detected and then I have to "insmod 8139too" and then "dhclient" for it to work. Then there is no problem. This is on a HP Omnibook XE3L. I have another card (a Sitecom pcmcia) and that fails aswell. I've put this in the Debian forum and not hardware because I didn't have this problem with SuSE or Mandrake (just millions of other problems ;])

Similar problem

Hi,

I have a similar problem like yours:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...024#post830024

pcmcia-cs and hotplug are installed. I use a similar configuration on my Thinkpad T21, but in contrast to my Compaq Evo 800w the Thinkpad works, but the Evo does not. I wonder if it is hardware dependent or if Debian has a problem here.

Could you make it work until now?

Frank

I don't think this is strictly Debian related, I had the same problem once I upgraded to the 2.6 Kernel in Mandrake 9.2

(I now run Gentoo on that machine tho and have not experienced this problem again)
