install debian3.0 from floppy drive

I am a linux learner. I tried to install debian 3.0 to my IBM TP600E from the floppy drive. The floppy dirve is not new, but is still working well. I made a boot floppy under dos, using the rescue.bin of bf2.4 flavor. The boot process stopped after
boot:
linux....................
Uncompress the linux...
crc error --halt the system.

The same problem with the idepci flavor.
Anybody helps me.
