glxinfo: command not found .... nvidia debian

solved.

Using etch and a manual nvidia install (8762) all seems working except that things aren't as quick as expected for a GeForce 7600 and an AMD MP processor.

Code:
glxinfo: command not found
solved by
Code:
apt-get install mesa-utils

You might consider entering the word "SOLVED" in your thread title. This will be helpful to others.

ty a little more info... for others

thankyou for this post...
this is needed for alot apps. And helped me with playonlinux

Under debian 5.0.5 and most deb distro's
to install
Code:
#su
#password
#apt-get install mesa-utils
check to see if you have direct rendering
Code:
#glxinfo | grep rendering
direct rendering: Yes
To show glxgears animation. And show you alot of info about the graphics driver(renderer,version,vendor and extensions.) Plus at the end, it'll show you the frames in 5.0seconds.
Code:
#glxgears -info
GL_RENDERER   = GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+/PCI/SSE2
GL_VERSION    = 3.3.0 NVIDIA 256.35
GL_VENDOR     = NVIDIA Corporation
GL_EXTENSIONS = GL_ARB_blend_func_extended
91585 frames in 5.0 seconds = 18316.934 FPS
91315 frames in 5.0 seconds = 18262.986 FPS
