This is the page, chapter 2.1.7, from which I quote:

Currently, stable/ is a symbolic link to sarge/, and testing/ is a symbolic link to etch/. This means that Sarge is the current stable distribution and Etch is the current testing distribution.

Ahh I guess much of the important docs, howtos, manuals and faqs are in place for Sarge's release. And this debian-reference is really part of the effort to rewrite outdated/soon-to-be-outdated stuff in preparation of the impending release. But UNLESS you hear anything otherwise on the official mailing lists; Debian channels on the freenode, oftc, gnome networks; distrowatch...woody remains the stable distribution, sarge is testing and sid will forever will be sid (the unstable boy next door)...

I guessed it has to be that since I searched all over the place at Debian's homepage, even the press announcements and nothing showed up.

Well, it seems like Sarge is inches away from being released as stable. After all it's about time to.

LOL...hehe Jordi Mallach and folks were just joking about about the release on #gnome-debian but awhile ago.

<jordim> I proclaim this group the release team in the dark.
<jordim> If we don't want it, the relrease won't happen.
<jordim> too bad we do want a release.

I know of several devels have publicly expressed support for any a DPL candidate for the comming DPL elections who puts up a credible plan to reform the release process on #debian-devel. Hmmm perhaps Overfiend aka Brendan Robinson is just the right person to succeed Martin Michlmayr as DPL. But in the meantime...Sarge will be ready when it is ready.
