Debian Squeeze: How to install adobe flash player?
Hello Friends,
I want to install adobe flash player in my Debian 6.0 (squeeze) system. I read a lot of threads on this, and tried to install it, but perhaps it hasn't installed properly.
When I open any video in youtube, it shows black screen but with sound.
Following is my /etc/apt/source.list file:
Code:
shiva@debian{/etc/apt}: cat sources.list
#
# deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.6 _Squeeze_ - Official i386 CD Binary-1 20120929-15:56]/ squeeze main
# deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.6 _Squeeze_ - Official i386 CD Binary-1 20120929-15:56]/ squeeze main
deb http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main
deb http://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian squeeze main
# squeeze-updates, previously known as 'volatile'
# A network mirror was not selected during install. The following entries
# are provided as examples, but you should amend them as appropriate
# for your mirror of choice.
#
# deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ squeeze-updates main
# deb-src http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ squeeze-updates main
deb http://www.backports.org/debian etch-backports main contrib non-free
deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org etch main
# or
deb ftp://ftp.debian-multimedia.org etch main
# or
deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org stable main or
deb ftp://ftp.debian-multimedia.org stable main
I then invoked:
Code:
shiva@debian{~} apt-get update
shiva@debian{~}: sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package flashplugin-nonfree is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package 'flashplugin-nonfree' has no installation candidate
My purpose it to mvoe to Debian completely and to throw windows out of my life. So I'd appreciate any help to build my system up.
TIA

Reason: Typo
Remove all lines relating to etch.
It is obsolete and the repo has moved to archives.
The update and install flashplayer-nonfree
Removed lines that had etch, and updated database again. Though errors have gone, but still getting either black screen in youtube or it keep saying install flash player.
Any idea what to do now and how to install it?

So did you actually install the flashplayer-nonfree package? You can confirm with the following command:
Code:
dpkg -l flashplugin-nonfree

Did you enable flash in your browser? What browser are you using?
