Hi,
I want to install on HD the debian-lenny Ilve, but no icon for that. Is it installable?
thanks
bela
Hi Bela,
I'm not sure what you're trying to do. If you have a bootable CD with Debian Live on it then you boot from the CD and not from your HD. Once booted, then the live CD should give you options about making a permanent installation on your HD.
Hope that's clear.
Cheers,
jdk
There is the live-helper for doing the opposite:custom live, usb stick,etc.. It is simply amazing.
But if you want a harddrive install, then just take the normal cds/dvds??
Does anybody knows if there is a way to put the livecd fully in RAM?
I did not see this for knoppix 6
Otherwise maybe with a big hack copying everything in ram during boot and switching to ramdisk. ?
Sorry, maybe I don't understand but don't live CD's normally run in ram? I just tried out Knoppix 6.0.1 Adriane and it ran in ram (no copying to my HD). But maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying?
cheers,
jdk
i was talking about putting the complete squashfs to ram and then doing the complete stuff from RAM.
I didn't have internet for the weekend. I looked at the init scripts, began to try to understand the noodle mix and then I thought that I should read the doc
To boot to ram:
live toram
That's it
Then you can eject the cd.
(I've tried with an old lenny livecd)
Other than that, I've seen "tohd", could be installing to harddrive, not sure.
