Debian help with user management

Hi,

I managed to install Debian Woody (netinstall) and managed to get it up including the X Windows. I can logon using root starting the X Windows without any problem even getting an internet connection, but when I logon to the X Windows using my username an error pop-up

"There was an error setting up inter-process communications for KDE. The message returned by the system was:

Could not read network connection list.
/home/$username/.DCOPServer__0

Please check that the "dcopserver" program is running!

I did some googled around and they said that i should delete any DCOP in /tmp folder. I did that but still fail.

Anyone please help...

About the only thing I can think of is that the DCOP server files in your home directory does not belong to the username you are using check and if necessary chown username:username .DCOP* in the /home/username/ directory to get the proper permissions set.

Code:
[HappyTux:/home/stephen]# ll .DCOPserver_HappyTux_*
lrwxrwxrwx  1 stephen stephen 37 2004-08-19 15:28 .DCOPserver_HappyTux_:0 -> /home/stephen/.DCOPserver_HappyTux__0
-rw-r--r--  1 stephen stephen 55 2004-08-19 15:28 .DCOPserver_HappyTux__0
