ATI Radeon 9600 Pro

Hi

Just re-installed Debian after a looong period without Linux (yikes!!!)

In the mean time, the old Nvidia card has been replaced with an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro.

Does anyone have a "ATI Radeon guiden on Debian for dummies" guide ? And here I mean a real "first do this..then" guide.

Thx.

Well, you can take a look at http://www.rage3d.com/content/articl...00000000000000

If that's too hard then reply and I'll interpret it in an easier way

Thx for your post, I got the driver installed using an installer. But still get error messages "No screens found"
What does my XF86Config-4 have to look like ?

This search recovered all that the debian linuxquestions forums has to offer as far as ati, radeon install and config how-tos. Enjoy.

The only thing I change as far as XF86 is the driver name to "fglrx". That is if it was properly configured in the first place.

It might be of use to post your Xfree log (/var/log/Xfree.0.log or something lke that) (or Xorg log if you use that).

EDIT: Oh, you should run fglrxconfig too after install to generate the special fglrx config file.
