apt-get dist-upgrade

Hi,

to upgrade from hoary ubuntu to breezy i've replaced occurences of hoary with breezy in the sources.list and then run
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade

169 packages were held back in the dist-upgrade. I have tried to run apt-get install on each of them but each one has dependancy issues.
On rebooting it still reckons it's hoary. I guess it isn't fully breezy if 169 packages were held back?
Does this mean the dist is not not
upgraded?
Ho can I resolve the 169 held back packages?

cheers

You can try using forcing the install and/or try using aptitude instead.

sudo apt-get -f dist-upgrade or sudo aptitude -f dist-upgrade, if aptitude isn't installed, just sudo apt-get install aptitude.

I seem to recall someone mentioning that dist-upgrading Ubuntu isn't always seemless....

Can you do a dpkg --get-selections |grep ubuntu-desktop

I read somewhere that the upgrade will go smoother if you apt-get install ubuntu-desktop before upgrading.
