Unhappy 'Browsing folders'

The only thing I find annoying about Debian is that when I open my Home folder, and then a sub-folder, it doesn't open it in the same 'file browser'. So, about 15 sub folders down the road, I have 15 'browsers' open on my taskbar. Is there a way to set it so it opens in the same window, and if so, how?

That's a gnome issue, not a Debian issue.

Desktop->Preferences->File Management->Always Open in Browser Windows
