Question Laptop installation hangs

My DSL installation on my Tshiba Tecra 800 (p2 366Mhz 128 Mb RAM) hangs after my processor speed and Ram are printed on the screen.

What can I possibly do to avoid this?

(My Puppy installation hangs too, Ubuntu and Knoppix work, but I'm looking for a small linux OS)

Well, I haven't had any problems with DSL running/installing at all, but by browsing on google and finding this site (http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin/fo...int;f=8;t=2879) Here's a few boot options I'd recommend:

mem=40M
or
dsl2 failsafe
or
failsafe 2

On an aside, if you're happy with the size of Knoppix, you can always install Slackware and just install only the options you want (this is basically what puppy is anyway). I've successfully installed recent versions of Slackware on 486 and pent 200mhz systems with minimal ram.

Here is the cheat code page from dsl's wiki. failsafe is probably a good one to start with, just to see if you can get it to boot.

usually its under /dev/sda1 (a virtual scsi connection). IIRC there should be a menu option for it (if its found), otherwise you can make a mount point by typing 'mkdir /mnt/usb' and then mount it with 'mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb'... But again, I'd check the menus first.

plug in your usb drive and than type 'cat etc/fstab' and look to see if sda1 shows up (sometimes I have to unplug and replug for it to find it). After that 'sudo su' and 'mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1' to mount and 'umount /mnt/sda1' to unmount. By doing this you should see all of your files and directories located in /mnt/sda1.
