DSL boots from USB drive...almost

I used Winimage to write the boot file to the drive, then I copied the boot.msg file over. Then I moved all of the files from the CD image over to the drive. I can boot off of it and it looks like it will boot to DSL, the I get an error message that says something like "Knoppix system files not found..." then it just sits there at a cursor. Any thoughts?

It says that it can't find the Knoppix file system and it boots into a command line interface. I am trying to build this from a Windows machine. I have found a few sites that tell you how. I am using Winimage to write to the USB drive and I am using Alcohol 120's virtual drive to mount the image and copy of to the USB drive.
