Boot Problem?

First off id like to start by saying the only experince Ive had with Linix is the one time I borrowed the Red Hat Linux Bible 9 and installed Red Hat on a machine that someone was throwing away and I got fromt them. That was a long time ago (well not too ,ong ago) Recently the libray at my shcool gave me an old out of date computer and I decided to put linux on it. I couldnt use Red Hat because of the RAM on the machine, and im stuck on dialup so DSL (with its size and all) seemed like the perfect distro for me.

So, I booted froma the cd I made from the iso i downloaded (unalterd) it ran fine untill after a bunh of characters in () scrolled down the screen and i recieved the message

"unable to handle kernal paging request at virtual address c2000000
Printing eip: c0108bf8 pde = oooooooo" or somehtuing close to that... and it did not do anything else

So I tried to boot with failsafe, The first time it came to a screen that wanted me to choose between to settings (the first one was "more flexible and fast" you know what im talking about)
I choose the first and got the same result, i restarted and chose the second option after choosing my nouse go this message

" modprobe:modprobe: cant locate module fbo XIO: fatale IO error 104 (connection reset by peer) on Xserver "0,0" after 0 requests (0 known processes) with 0 events remianing"

and I get command line...

So what Do i do? With the command Line I partioned my hard drive and installed dsl to hda2 and attempted to run it with lilo boot loader and got the exact same results. So what is going on? what do I do? I know thjat this post is a little long but I wanted to be detailed because as a linux newb I didnt know exaclty what info you guys needed.

# Cyrix® M-II 333 MMX (w/ 512KB)
# 32MB SyncDRAM (upto 256 MB)
# ATI Rage IIc 3D AGP with 4MB SDRAM
# Crystal CS4235 3D Audio
# 24x Max. CD-ROM Drive
# 3.2GB HDD (Ultra DMA EIDE)
# 3.5" 1.44MB FDD
# 56K* ITU V.90 PCI Fax/Modem
# PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse
# Stereo Speakers
# 2 USB Ports (1 is on Front)
# 1 Serial / 1 Parallel / 3 Expansion Slot
# Audio In & Out / Game Port on Front

OK, first go into your motherboard BIOS and disable PNP, if it is an option. Also, disable any ports that you aren't going to use- like LPT(printer).

You weren't specific about what you are doing. Are you running a liveCD or did you install something? If so, what distribution and version is it.

Now you make a floppy with this:

http://www.memtest.org/download/1.51....51.floppy.zip

And find out what is broken.

I'd suspect you need a swap partition. You'll need a LiveCD - Knoppix something like that - to be able to create one if you can't boot DSL.
Do you have one ???. Don't know if DSL will run off the CD only -I'll check when I get home tonight.
