Unhappy Backing up MyDSL from a USB pen install...

Hi DSL experts,
I am runing DSL on a "Dawn small Machine" from a USB stick (using Syslinux methode not Grub).
My problem is the folowing one:
I can download and install .dsl file but each time I reboot the machine, they get deleted... Therefore I created a folder call "mydsl" on the USB stick which get mounted as /cdrom/mydsl by dsl.
The problem now is, /cdrom/ is mounted read only! therefore dsl can not load the dsl files properly... it come with message like "operation not permited..." and no .app file get created.
I have tryed to modify fstab to mount /cdrom/ as rw but the changes do not get backed up...

Is it a bug or am I missing something?
How can I get mydsl backed up and reloaded automatically?

Ta,
RNR

OK

couple things about DSL

it can only save stuff(persistentcy) to a seperate partition
it cant save to partition its booting from

so, you need to make one partition fat32, and make the other either fat32 or ext2

edit your syslinux.cfg to say

Code:
restore=sda2 mydsl=sda2
and then it'll work
your usb may be sdb2, sdf2, but dsl will usually see the usb as sda1. sda2, etc

after editing as above. at first boot dsl will create the mydsl folder in sda2 USB
and you can start dding MyDSL apps, etc

I made a special DSL remaster that comes with qemu and it plays on linux or windows, with persistency

you can get it here
http://multidistro.com//downloads/po...e-MyDSL.tar.gz

and another here
http://multidistro.com//downloads/po...nt-qemu.tar.gz

I got more too if interested
