Httpd service is off on remote machine (server)
both centOS 6.4 and 7.2.1511 have the same remote server IP address but with different repository


on client centOS 6.4
when I try the following
yum -C --security check-update
Loaded plugins: downloadonly, fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit, security
Limiting package lists to security relevant ones
....

now on centOS 7.2.1511
yum -C --security check-update
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks
http://x.x.x.x/repos/centos/7.2.1511...ta/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] curl#7 - "Failed connect to x.x.x.x:80; Connection refused"
.....
Trying other mirror.

When I try
yum -C check-update
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks
I don't have http://.......



When Httpd is started everything works fine. But we don't want to start the Httpd when I will do installation form the cache.

The behavior of 6.4 is the good one I think.
Why on centOS 7.2.1511. the yum -C --security check-update command try to connect to the remote machine?

on cent 6.4 you will not get any updates

are all UNSUPPORTED

only the current in the older 6 series is supported CentOS 6.7 ( soon to be 6.8)

on 6.4 there is nothing to update and there has been nothing to update for many years


upgrade to 6.7 ASAP

that is not a real address
those x x x 's will cause problems

On the field will still have some remoteClient with 6.4 CentOS. They will be upgrade but I don't now when.

The question is more when I do
on centOS 7.2.1511
yum -C --security check-update

Why yum try to connect to http://....
And x.x.x.x are not the real IpAddress. I just replace the real IpAddress by x.x.x.x for asking the question.

Yes to both, if the httpd service on remote repository server is start.
The problem is why when I use yum -C --security check-update the program try to connect with the remote repository server.
