Remove duplicate libraries CentOS 6

I'm having trouble upgrading a CentOS 6.3 machine to CentOS 6.5 When I run yum check I see many duplicate libraries. How can I delete all the duplicate packages?

? How about : # yum check-update
.. which will (in a few seconds) show the packages to update.

The command for an update (to latest update level) is # yum update

The (unofficial?) command "yum check" is probably just showing
"what you have of packages that can be updated,
and the available update versions."

Try this?:
Code:
\cp -r /var/lib/rpm /var/lib/rpm.prev
yum-complete-transaction
package-cleanup --problems
package-cleanup --dupes
package-cleanup --cleandupes
yum clean all
rpm --rebuilddb
yum update
# if all went OK run 'rm -rf /var/lib/rpm.prev'

Thank you very much. The detailed steps outlined below worked perfectly!

\cp -r /var/lib/rpm /var/lib/rpm.prev
yum-complete-transaction
package-cleanup --problems
package-cleanup --dupes
package-cleanup --cleandupes
yum clean all
rpm --rebuilddb
yum update
# if all went OK run 'rm -rf /var/lib/rpm.prev'

I was able to upgrade the machine from CentOS 6.3 to CentOS 6.5 without any errors!
