Problem connecting to a software source - when offline

Dear friends,

I have re-installed CentOS6 for an old Lab PC. But many pop-up windows saying "Problem connecting to a software source" appeared overnight.

How can I solve this problem? The PC needs to be disconnected due to security concern. Please advise.

The latest version of CentOS is 7.5, why are you still using CentOS 6 ?

If you mean your PC needs to be disconnected from the network; haven't you answered your own question ??

In other words: If you have disconnected it from your network, it can't connect to online software repositories. In that case, that's the answer.

Welcome to LinuxQuestions.

CentOS 6 is still supported, end of maintenance updates is 30 November 2020.

From the GUI menu select System -> Preferences -> Software Updates. Change Daily to Never and your system will never check for updates.

Thanks michaelk and jsbjsb001 for your replies. I have changed from Daily to Never in the Software Updates. Fingers crossed.

I have reason to install CentOS 6. Otherwise I would have installed the latest version.
