Question Printing is extremely slowly

Whenever I try to print via device URI:socket://ML1210:9100 or via
device URI: lpd://ML1210/lp it takes ages to print even 5 lines of plain text.
The printing is much faster when I use Samba
device URI: smb://Mynet/Computername/ML1200.
Are there any printing options or spooling options which are not set in the proper way??

Hello pan64,
many thanks for reply. The only problem is, I
don't understand it. What do you mean by "the error is in line 35"??
What other information do you need??
And where can I find them??

I believe pan64 was trying to show that since you have not provided any information about your printer/problem therefore it is impossible to provide any help.

Lets start from the beginning.

What operating systems are you running? What linux distribution / version?

How is the printer connected? I am not familiar with the ML-1210 but a quick search indicates it not network capable i.e. it only has a USB or parallel port.

Your post is confusing since using a URI of socket://ML1210:9100 or lpd://ML1210/lp typically indicates a network printer versus smb://Mynet/Computername/ML1200 which is connected to computer.

Hello michaelk, thanks for your helpfull reply. By the way, after some time I found out myself that pan64 was "pulling my leg". That was not very good but that's life.
In my question I was always talking about one printer which can be accessed on different ways. Normaly this printer has a parallel port, but in this case the printer is connected via a printer server to my LAN. In all three versions the printer is printing but the printing of five lines of ascii text takes ages.
The last version with samba is much faster but in this case the printing starts on my centos 6.7 system and then is directed to a windows system (Windows 10 Home)which does the actual printing.

Using the first two versions to print (not the samba version) the printer starts blinking immideately (data are beeing transferred). This goes on for a long time. Then after all data have been transferred, the printer starts printing. Is there a chance to inhibit the data transfer to the printer till all data have been processed??

If you need further more information please let me know.

I assume the print server is a stand alone hardware device. Since we know nothing about the server I can only assume it is the problem. Did you install any drivers on the Windows PC for this server?

No, I didn't install any specific drivers for the printserver. The only software I installed for the printserver is software to configure it. The configuration can also be done by a webbrowser.

Not enough information to know if it something between cups and the print server or the printer server itself. Setting the cups queue to raw might improve the speed.

Use the cups web interface or the printer wizard and add a new printer. Use the same URI and I believe select 'Generic' from the Choose Driver dialogue then 'Raw Queue' for the driver. Now print with your test file to the new printer.

If I try "your changes" then the printer gets some data, the queue will be filled and then emptied but no output at all at the printer.

Is there any chance of starting the printing only if the complete output is processed for printing??

If not many thanks for your help!!
