How to get Rhythmbox and VLC to work in CentOS 7?

I do not remember ever being as disappointed with a Linux distro as I am with CentOS 7. Even something as simple as playing an mp3 is like pulling teeth.

I have googled this issue extensively. I have been to about two dozen articles about installing multimedia, and none of them work.

Rhythmbox is installed, but will play an mp3, complains about missing plugins.

VLC will not install.

Advice on the CentOS site is useless.

Anybody have a way of doing this that actually works?

I found the problem.

I had to set enable=0 in the nux-dextop repository. Then do a "yum --enablerepo nux-dextop" to get the multimedia plugins, and applications.

The problem is: nux-dextop conflict with other common repositories.
