Hy guys hope you are doing great

first of all my english is bad so kindly try to understand on your own what i mean thanks

Task:

i have assigned to configure a local yum repository server for our servers that dont have internet access. so i searched for different solution opensource and builtin like " createrepo".

i am using centOS 7 and i followed the below mentioned tutorial and it worked for me now i have local repository for CentOS 7 .

Tutorial:
https://phoenixnap.com/kb/create-loc...ository-centos

Problem:

i also need to download rhel 6 rpm files for both i386 and 84x_64 architecture ..... can you guys kindly guide me how can i achieve that..

I have tried to move /etc/yum.repos.d/* file to /tmp/ and tried to create a new .repo file that contain rhel 6 package URL.

but when i see " yum-config-manager main \* its settings are different and i dont know how to change section headers to pick to rhel 6 i386 and 84x_64 arch and base, extra, updates and centosplus url .....

can some explain what change do i need to make an on which files step by step cause i am new to linux it would be helpful if someone explain it briefly and asap thanks..

Hi @TenTenths thanks for replying i read the pages its a good solution but very lengthy process...... i am just in hurry so want a suggestion

what if i make a directory and download all the rmp packages from "http://mirror.centos.org/centos/6/os/x86_64/Packages/" this URL and after that i use createrepo to create metadata and create a repository? i am not sure will it work? as i did using previous tutorial if yes then its more easy for me to get it done in less time.

please also tell me if i am thinking in right direction so is it enough to resolve all dependencies as well if my internal server try to access a package lets say "net-snmp-utils" will these rpm package enough to install it properly on the machine or not ? kindly guide me thanks in advance

The article I linked gives a good, clear, and the CentOS recommendation on how to achieve what you want. If you decide you want to do it your way then that's up to you and I hope it works out for you.

yes you are right its a good article but what he is doing he is downloading every .iso file individually and then extracting, mounting unmouting then creating a script etc. you know what i mean it will take too much time to download all 5 and 6 rhel version and following this procedure so its easy it will download rpm but i was not sure if its right approach or not ....

have you tried this yourself what i am trying to achieve right now ?

thanks
