I usually use du and df, which are command line tools (see their respective man pages). I have occasionally used KDiskFree, which works quite nicely. I believe there is a similar Gnome-based tool called Baobab.

I am curious about this application's being characterized as "web-based." Does that mean the reports are in HTML or that the reports are generated on somebody else's server, like Map My Ride reports? (By the way, that's the reason I don't use Map My Ride. Where I ride is Not Their Business.)

I would be uneasy about using some web-based tool unless 1) I had a compelling reason to do so and 2) I thoroughly vetted it to ensure that it was reliable, honest, and, especially, non-intrusive.

so what would you say is a good web based disk usage program to use, i need it to be web based as people from other departments will need access to check the disk usgae space on our NAS

Runs on your own web server - maybe @frankbell was being overly skeptical.
And if you don't like it, the author has invited you to fork it for yourself.

Maybe. Perhaps I am jaded because far too many web-based thingees have shown themselves to be as trustworthy as a drug company TV commercial, though, admittedly, with fewer side effects and no bathtubs . . . .

I didn't say, "Don't use it." I just said, "Vet it carefully."
