Persistence LIVE USB fails to boot.

Hello,

I'm facing an issue where bodhi 5.1.0-64, live USB with persistent partition(created using latest Rufus) fails to load the GUI DESKTOP.
Boot hangs on initramfs

If I create live USB WITHOUT "PERSISTENCE"then everything works.

But I really need persistence between reboots,

I've read that this maybe an issue with Casper-rw (but that bug was rectified in Ubuntu, on which I believe bodhi is based.

Any link I can go to for resolution ?

Equipment: Dell laptop, windows10, UEFI (I have disabled secure boot)
16gb pen drive - Kingston.
Bodhi Linux : 5.1.0-64 ISO
RUFUS: 3.11
Formats: ISO partition FAT32
persistent partition created by Rufus.(4gb)

Thankx for taking an interest.

Yes, I have tried etcher and unetbootin.
Both work fine, but DON'T have an option to create PERSISTENT partition during LIVE USB creation.

Only Yumi and Rufus have shown the option to create persistent partition.

I have not tried ventoy, will try it out and update here.

Hello once again.

I downloaded and tried out ventoy.

It's really good and easy
However I'm still Hvng trouble booting from bodhi once persistence is enabled (did it manually via ventoy)

I'm editing grub before boot and adding 'nomodeset' after the 'soft splash'

my next question would be whether this is a bodhi specific problem? not because you shouldn't ask for help here (however, in case it is of interest, a lot of the bodhi-specific traffic has moved to their new forum), but because knowing so might enable you to broaden your search. have you been able to run any distro on this specific system with a persistent live usb?

since you added the nomodeset comment, posting the output of inxi -Fxz might be helpful.

Yes.
I have been able to run Ubuntu (20) & Lubuntu on this very system, also have successfully run Kali Linux (2016) on this system

Have also used it in LIVE USB persistence mode.

I am facing this issue with Bodhi, where persistence won't work with Rufus(maybe coz of the Ubuntu 18 bug).

Will follow up with the requested files ASAP.

hello once again.

i am still facing issues with booting into Bodhi using persistence created by RUFUS.

However, I have had success booting into Bodhi using Persistence created using VOLTOY.

the issue described in http://imgur.com/gallery/cqQEwsd ; was also solved by pressing 'e' at boot and editing the subsequent file to DELETE the 'QUITE SPLASH' and replace it with NOMODESET (read it from reddit)

here is my file : inxi -Fxz, as requested.
~$ inxi -Fxz

Yes.
Bodhi Live USB works, with Persistence (only via VENTOY and not with RUFUS)

The screen flicker and hanging during boot was solved by deleting 'QUIET SPLASH'

THANK YOU for the Ventoy Hint.

that's great to hear. if you have a moment to mark the thread as solved, someone with the same or similar issue might more easily know a possible solution can be found within.

i haven't used ventoy yet myself, but have read some good things about it. sometimes just trying a different tool helps move things in a positive direction
