Ctrl+Alt+F2 Blank Screen

I can still login blind (confirmed by running speaker-test) so it's like my laptop's display or backlight is shut off.

I don't have any real idea what caused this. There are two things I've messed with lately, one was trying to set the shelf color to black, although I was never successful and believe I restored everything. The other is in trying to figure out how to make the backlight slider work I installed and purged some things that didn't help, plus removed related key and acpi bindings which also didn't help. Probably not related, but I thought worth mentioning just in case...

Is there anything showing on the screen, perhaps a login prompt? That command commonly opens a new workspace in a terminal.

Yes, the login prompt is there, I just can't see it. That's why I said I could login blind, I enter user and password and get to a prompt, and confirmed that by running speaker-test (so I could hear it). Since then I've also logged in to reboot, so I know for sure it's working. It's just invisible, whole screen turns off.

i'm pretty sure that's related, seeing all the things you tried in your other thread.
