Yes Stefan, currently running 19.10.9 which is the latest version. I downloaded it earlier this evening. Still doing the same blank screen.
Thank you so much for the trouble and time that you're spending on my problem. I really appreciate it!
Sorry for the delay but I couldn't keep my eyes open last night.
Yes it's pure Bodhi 5.1 nothing else. I do have an old windows XP but on a seperate hard drive and doesn't get used from year to year unless I want to convert old video tapes to dvd.
The graphics card is NVIDIA G71GL [QUADRO FX 3500] (rev a1) This came installed on the machine and I haven't done any changes to it. Perhaps a good clean out of the box might be in order and check all connections?
We are now in state when I can only speculate what is wrong. Without having your PC here or remote connection to it I am not able help you more easy way. Now it is up to you if you wanna fight more with risky result. Being you, I would check if nvidia driver is loaded (lsmod | grep nvidia). If not, trying to install it. If you are a Linux beginner, this could be tricky sometimes.
I can point you to this link where is a method how to install nvidia driver.
I'm deeply grateful for all the time and effort you have put into my problem.I'll do the checks and actions you have suggested and give you feedback on the outcome.
Worst case scenario, I'll just boot into recovery mode whenever I need Manager.
I'll mark my original thread as solved, as the VLC problem was resolved.
Thanks for the interest.
From Bodhi official web site downloads.
However I've come to the conclusion along with a lot of help from Stefan and a process of elimination, that my problem is not with the OS but rather my computer. That's why I've marked this thread as solved and am now trying to sort out the graphics.
There is as yet no BL 5.1 ISO but if one updates BL 5.0 it reports itself as Bodhi Linux 5.1 (Menu->About Bodhi). As well as reporting it as using moksha 3.1.
