I've been using the Bodhi Linux AppCenter to install software for the last few days. Suddenly, the Install button doesn't install! Instead it gave me a list of applications. Like an idiot, I selected Bodhi AppCenter, and now it opens a smaller window showing the Bodhi Linux AppCenter!
I have no idea what I did wrong and no idea how to fix it.
Installing via AppCenter is only possible from Midori browser (installed by default). Anyway the list of apps in AppCenter is limited. I recommend installing stuff via terminal or synaptic.
But why is it suddenly broken? I'm invoking it by clicking the menu option as I've always done. If it's suddenly started using a different browser then it's through no (deliberate) action of mine. I accept that there are other ways of installing software, but nevertheless I would like to get this one working again.
Oh, I am sorry. I used it years ago. As far as I know this only worked with Midori in the past. Maybe Jeff or Ylee fixed it. I will ask them.
Bodhi's app center works with any web browser that either supports or can be made to support the apt-url protocol. FF used to require some about:config hacks to make it work and then at least with ubuntus version it started supporting it out of the box most of the time. I used to keep an eye on which web browser supported it and what was needed if anything to make it work. I gave that project up tho over time because it was too time consuming to keep it up to date and there are a ton of web browsers to check out and keep an eye on. Besides I don't even use and never have used Bodhi's App center even during the days of me updating Bodhi bod files (if any have used Bodhi long enough to remember that.)
this thread is a few years old. have you been having trouble installing programs through the appcenter recently?
Yup, I had the problem today. I think that was because my computer's battery went dead during updates. I was trying to install applications through the App Center and nothing was working. I then clicked on the "details" button (or something like that) and it was saying that something went wrong (I can't remember exactly the message), that I had to correct the problem by entering the command I wrote on my reply...
that certainly makes sense if your computer lost power during an update. glad to hear you got it all worked out. hopefully you are able to update and upgrade just fine now.
