BL4.5-32bit - How to install latest youtube-dl, please?

In Synaptic, the only available version is a very old one from 2016,
but how can I install the latest version, please?

Actually, I do know Google, but if I had found this one, I wouldn't have had to ask, sorry.

After trying the PPA, 2016.02.22-1 was still installed.

But the 2nd try, using the guide from post 34 of that page, was successful.
Now, I have 2019.09.01, which is the up-to-date version.

I think google has become a generic term for search engine. At least I use it that way regardless what search engine I actually use.

So what did you end up doing?

FWIW, I would just download the version straight from here and drop it in ~/bin.
No faffing with sudo.
And you can run

youtube-dl -U

which you should - often!

I use Homebrew to install some software that's a bit outdated in the repos, youtube-dl included.
If for you it's only youtube-dl, then ondoho's suggestion is perfect.
