Restarting ssh in Arch

Newbie Q I know, but there seems to be no "/etc/init.d" directory for the command "/etc/init.d/ssh restart" to work. :-/

Check in /etc/rc.d, your looking for a file with sshd in it, that's the ssh daemon. If you don't see it there do a locate for sshd.
