Installed arch. cant get x to start.


So I decided to try arch. Install went fine, reboot, login as root and x wont start. The first linux distro I tried that does not work after install. Dont know what I did wrong md5 sum was good and the install process didn't hang.

are you sure you installed X?

heres the xorg pkgs
http://www.archlinux.org/packages/?q=xorg

heres the xf86-* drivers
http://www.archlinux.org/packages/?s...gged=&limit=50

what desktop do you have and did you try to configure X?

Sorry I just looked at the beginners guide to arch and I missed alot of stuff . I dont think I have the time for all that. If I am going to do that much work I think I will do a LFS.

Depending on what you wanna do

1) you could test drive/install some ARCH livecd's
archbang

my own nFluxOS ARCH edition

if you wanna check out LFS'esque distros try

calculate linux scratch

I tried some of the live cds. I liked what I tried so much I went back, re installed arch the right way and am very happy with it. I am also going to try some of the pre built LFS distros you linked too.
